about dani

Dani Bickford is a person who happens to really, really love listening to and talking about music. Starting in 1995 at the age of ten with the airing of The Beatles Anthology on ABC-TV, rock'n'roll music has been one of the most pressing things on Dani's mind at any given point in time. Favorites during high school primarily included Radiohead, Beck, Nine Inch Nails, David Bowie, and, of course, The Beatles. During journalism school at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, she spun music on and off (depending on class schedules) at KSUA 91.5 FM radio for rock'n'roll shows The Grown-Up ShowNeurological Holiday, and very occasionally for legacy program Red-Eye Radio. After collaborating on political coverage with editorial staff and 50 other reporters, representing Alaska as part of the Emmy-winning MTV News Choose or Lose '08 Street Team project, she spent a number of years working away from music and journalism engaged in political and advocacy work, including 2014's successful legalization of marijuana in the 49th State. In 2016 she began the transition back to creative interests, including photography, art, spirituality, and, of course, music. She spent several months visually documenting the aftermath of the 2016 United States presidential election in the heart of downtown Seattle, Washington, along with photographing primarily psychedelic rock'n'roll shows in the city. Dani, her husband, and their daughter currently reside in Anchorage, Alaska.
